Wat a contrast between the two 2nd legs of the champs league semi-finals. Man U vs Arse was pretty tame. Within 10 minutes of the game, the contest was over when United scored 2 goals. I woke up late for the game so missed the exitement of watching the 2 goals go in. But United started fast and furious and gave Arse little to play for. The commentators gav fergie credit for playing Ron as striker and his regular strikers actually sat out the game. Master stroke? By 3-0, it was time to hit the sack, the game was over, Arse need 5 goals which they wer never going to get. United ar hitting form and they should play well in the Rome finals.

Contrast tat wif Chelsea vs Barca. Chelski chose to play conservativ. Partly in fear of Barca’s famed offensiv prowess, even tho they had Drog and Anelka playing upfront. Lets put things into perspectiv. Chelski should hav gone for the kill when Abidal was sent off…but they continued defending and let Barca possess the ball. They had a legitimate pen claim when the ball deflected off Pique’s hand but you hav to depend on the ref’s whim and fancy when it comes to handball in the box. No luck there! Chelski hav themselves to blame. If they had gone on the attack and pressure Barca when playing against 10 men, they mite hav had the chance to score a second and kill the tie. Obviously they wer given instructions to defend. They gav Barca’s attacking play too much respect. True, Barca was lucky to score with 120 seconds remaining with the only shot of the game on target at Cech’s goal, but they showed belief in their own ability and continued to pile on attack after attack and it paid off even wif 10 men. So Iniesta was the hero for the day…

Looking to the final…it will be two attacking teams who will find it difficult to defend. United’s defence will be hard pressed to handle Messi, Eto and company, while Barca’s defence will be weakened by injuries and suspension. Promises to be a great final…could fergie’s experience count for mur since tis is pep guardiola’s first final? Maybe! Go Man U!!!
